Liposuction

What is liposuction?
Liposuction is the accumulation of fatty tissue in certain areas by different methods.

Which methods are used?
Fat can be removed by conventional method or laser. In recent years, ultrasonic energy has begun to be used. In this method, excess fat tissues are broken up by ultrasound waves, then removed in a similar manner by vacuum.

Is it weakened by liposuction?
Certainly not a weight loss surgery, but a body contour correction surgery. With this surgery, the volume is increased, dietary and excretory-resistant fat tissue is removed from the body, and the number of fat cells present is also reduced.

Which areas are suitable for liposuction?
It has become possible to vacuum the fat deposits in many areas of the body such as the undersurface, cheeks, neck, upper part of the arm, breast, abdomen, waist, hip, thigh, inner side of the knee and back of the leg. In addition, other body contour correction operations (abdominal stretching, breast reduction, etc.) is used as a complementary process.

How is liposuction done?
The surgery is performed under the supervision of the anesthesiologist and in the operating room in hospital conditions. The combination of local anesthesia and sedation (vasodilation) is preferred. Only local anesthesia can be applied in very limited small areas. During the liposuction operation, the stubborn fat area is inflated with a special liquid injection. Then a 1-2 mm incision is made and extra fat tissue is removed with the help of special cannulas and the body is shaped.

How much fat can be removed during surgery?
Up to 4-5 liters of fat can be taken without disturbing the patient’s balance and body functions. But there are surgeons who give more space by giving fluid and blood. Here the surgeon is the preferred choice. If the patients have large areas, they can be re-operated between 3-6 months. If more fat is removed, measures are taken to complement the patient’s fluid and electrolyte balance. Sometimes blood transfusion may be necessary. In the case of obesity called morbid obesity, taking the necessary precautions for the patient, up to 28 liters of single seantast oil has become feasible, but has serious risks.7

What kind of process do they expect after the surgery?
Post surgery is usually comfortable. The pain is very low and can be relieved with medications. At the end of the operation, a special bandage is applied to the areas where vacuum is applied and the patient is dressed with a special corset. Patient is dressed after surgery. The patient continues to wear corsets for 5-6 weeks. Vacuum applied areas may have purplish color changes. May have swelling, tingling and burning sensation. They will disappear spontaneously in 3 weeks. Surgical scars also become vague within 2-6 months.

Are postoperative results permanent?
It is technically persistent because the fat cells are removed. But the shapes and contours of the body are affected by weight gain, age, pregnancy and lifestyle. In the case of dietary and nutritional disorders, the same oils occur in the same places.
